The Artist - Alex Pickles

AAlex Pickles, a wood sculptor in a family of printmakers and artists has spent much of his life working in the countryside of the Cotswolds, North Yorkshire and Devon, Alex has spent many years with wood in its various forms and types as a hedge layer, coppicer and Sculptor. Spending much of his time in the countryside Alex gains inspiration from the many natural forms found in the natural environment. Working with responsibly sourced Oak he uses Chainsaws, power grinders and hand tools to get the final finish, which is then oiled. Alex’s solid oak benches are designed to compliment an open space as the shapes and patterns work in balance with the surrounding landscape.
